First sesh back after hernia op, so should score as a 5 really but it wasn't.
Windy when got to the beach 2.30 ish but dumpy and raining, so waited for others to arrive and for tide to drop a touch.
Rigged 5.9m Duke on Freewave 115, having seen Rob doign ok on his 100 ltr tri-fin Moo Custom and 5.7m, and Rich on his Exo 102 and 5.8m Poison.
The tide duly obliged and as I launched the wind dropped too just as I gybed 'out the back' ... brilliant !!!
Not to be thwarted, I sulked for a moment, and then decided to get the paddleboard and plug my rig in that. Ended up nicking Rich's rig as I sent him out to try my Freewave .... and sure enough after 20 mins or so the wind filled in properly again.
Took me a while to get my kit back off Rich so stuck with the Fly and had a right laugh. There were a few short waves to play with, and enough wind to get the fins out of the water going out .... ?!?!?!?!
Eventually got my kit back and enjoyed the rest of the session blasting, bumping, jumping and wiggling as the rain came and went and the wind just gradually filled in.
Seemed to ease off a little just as I felt cream crackered, so called it a day.
Did not realise it was 7pm already, and was properly in the doghouse for not phoning in to let worried family members know I was having fun. Honestly felt like nearer half 5 !!!
Never mind, made it home ok, and only aches were from the knee as is the norm .... time to work on some fitness and hope to sail a bit more for all round windsurf fitness :-)
